Josh Cooper's speed-strength school, located in Tampa, FL, brings a wealth of
sports science and practical knowledge to the private sector. Mr. Cooper has trained
Olympic gold medalists from the 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. In addition, he has also trained several national
champions, as well as professional and amateur athletes from all over the country
and in a multitude of sports.
Mr. Cooper started COOPER SPEED-STRENGTH SCHOOL in order to deliver the best and
most innovative world class training to the public. He has also held positions
as a sports scientist and strength and conditioning coach at the Olympic Training
Center (Colorado Springs, CO), The University of Colorado (Boulder, CO), and The
College of New Jersey (Trenton, NJ).
In
addition to coaching athletes from a variety of sports backgrounds, he
also
acts as an educator to other strength and conditioning specialists. He
is often
called upon to conduct clinics and presentations at the national level
in the
fields of sports science, speed development, sport-specific
conditioning, program
design, and sport mechanics. Furthermore, Mr. Cooper has received
grants for his research in the field of exercise science from the NSCA
and coremax company. He also holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in
Exercise Science and is currently a Phd candidate and a certified strength and conditioning
specialist. He is
also a former collegiate football player, and an elite level judo
player.

Prior to coming to
CooperSpeed-StrengthSchool,
Cody worked with 32 Division 1 varsity athletic teams as Strength and
Conditioning Coach for the
University
of
Pennsylvania.He also served as the Speed and Conditioning
Consultant for the UPenn varsity football team, while being regularly called in
to teach sprint mechanics at speed camps for multiple sports.
Cody has had a passion for the highest level of sports
performance from a very young age.Being
very successful in several sports throughout high school, he set his focus on
Track and Field.While attending the
University
of
Pennsylvania, he ran for the
Varsity Track Team as a sprinter from 2003-2007.During his time at UPenn he was awarded All
Ivy League and All East Honors in distances ranging from 60m-400m.Cody continues to train and compete as a
nationally competitive sprinter.
Cody is always seeking out the latest proven methods of
sports performance through direct education and personal research.He received his Bachelors degree in Psychology
from the
University of
Pennsylvania,
and his Masters degree in Exercise Science – Sports Performance and Injury
Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania.Cody is certified by the world’s leading

ADVISOR: DAVID PEARSON, PhD, C.S.C.S.*D
Doctor Pearson received his doctorate degree
from Ball State University in Human Bioenergetics in 1987 and has remained
there as a member of it’s faculty as well as Director of the Strength Research
Laboratory and Coordinator of the Masters of Sports Performance program.Dr. Pearson has authored many articles in
both scientific and lay publications as well as book chapters.His expertise in the area of sports performance
and strength training has led to a long relationship with the National Strength
and Conditioning Association, not only serving on its Board of Directors but
also receiving several awards including Educator of the Year in 2005.Men’s Health magazine has asked Dr. Pearson
to serve on it’s Medical Advisory Board since 1991 while at the same time
serving as a consultant to several major corporations and athletic teams.Most recently, Dr. Pearson was honored for
his work with UCLA athletes when he received the Merit of Excellence Award
from the Speed-Strength and Conditioning Department in 2006.
